Steam cleaning is an incredibly effective method of cleaning without causing any damage to the substrate being cleaned. English Heritage and National Trust often specify this method for the cleaning of listed buildings. We use the Doff system by Stonehealth as it is the most superior out of the two systems on the market. Many companies will use hot cleaning methods, this IS NOT steam. To truly steam clean the temperature must stay at 150 degrees at the nozzle.
Steam cleaning is effective in cleaning natural stone surfaces and causes no damage to the substrate when used correctly as there is no water ingress due to the temperature of the steam drying immediately. No pressure is applied from the system meaning a very gentle clean. Steam can be used to remove coatings such as paint, graffiti and chewing gum from monuments and pathways and bio growth on buildings and brick and stone There are a range of specialist poultices and gels available to use alongside steam to remove stubborn stains from sensitive surfaces.
