We were contacted by the customer as they were having problems cleaning out the gutters on the property due to access issues with a reach and wash and gutter vac system. We learnt that other companies had tried unsuccessfully. When we arrived for a survey we noted many issues and used our specialist services to clean the exterior of their building.
The Problems
- The gutters had had grates installed which had turned to turf
- The stone window and door surrounds had been severely stained by the overspill from the gutters running down the render. The customer had attempted removal of this with no success
- The gutters to the front elevation of the property had a thick, red, algae growing on them which could not be removed by a brush or touch
- The solar panels had algae growth to the base that was visible from the floor
- The windows were dirty
- There was black algae growth on the front elevation which the customer had previously tried to remove with a pressure washer, they had met difficulties
- There were 2 rendered elevations which had green algae growth
The Solutions
- A specialist cherry picker would be needed to reach over the conservatory so the grates could be removed manually
- Whilst access was available the cleaning of the conservatory, solar panels and the stone window and door surrounds could be cleaned from the cherry picker
- The front rendered elevation with green algae all over it, to be cleared using softwashing chemicals, with a mind to the water source nearby. Safewash recommended
- The windows could be cleaned using a mixture of the cherry picker and the high reach pole system
- The Doff steam cleaning machine would be needed for the black algae on the stonework, to avoid damage to the mortar
- The Doff machine will be needed on the stone window and door surrounds and the gutters on the front elevation, due to the heavy growth
The Result
- The stonework was immaculate once cleaned at the rear of the property. The client therefore asked us to complete the stone surrounds to the front elevation.
- The black and green algae to the front elevation was completely cleared with no effect on the mortar or render
- The gutters are completely free of marks and staining and the grates have been removed
- The solar panels are now clean and working at maximum capacity
- The windows are completely clear both inside and out
